Time Sync On VPN

Postby Deestar » Thu Jan 19, 2017 11:30 am

Hi

I'm sure others here use a VPN to run Gruss. I run mine through Tagadab. The last couple of days I noticed the internet time was out of sync on the VPN and as all my systems are time critical this caused some problems. Totally my fault for not checking. Just wondering if there is a method of having the time sync checked automatically. I've seen options of having it checked on Windows start up but as my server is not restarted that doesn't work for me. Any ideas appreciated.

Hi D*,

I use Tagadab, Windows Server 2012.

Click on the clock in bottom left corner. Change settings. Internet time. Change settings.

I have mine set to use time-nw.nist.gov

Thanks both for the reply.
I understand how to update the time sync manually, I was looking for some way that it could be automated. Windows only sync's once a week and if it screws up (as clearly mine did) it will miss the week and presumably try again the next week, etc etc.
My server was 12secs adrift by the time I noticed it. Not much in real life but a lifetime when trading in the run up to a race. Incidentally Daywalker mine was also set to use time-nw.nist.gov
Not a big deal, in the absence of an automation option I'll add it to my daily checklist to manually sync.

No need if you install the small app I wrote above
Without it I saw tagadab servers as high as 1 minute in front
I have it set at 900secs updates

Sorry Alrodopial, I didn't realise that Atomic Clock Sync 3.5.0.0 was an actual bit of software. Just thought you were recommending setting Windows to a new internet time server. Thanks, I'll have a look.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
