ba freezing

Postby docbrown » Fri Oct 14, 2016 5:25 am

I live in Australia. ba has been freezing (5 or more seconds at a time every few minutes) on my old pc that runs vista (microsoft not supporting vista after april 2017). I have tried using windows 7 and windows10 pc's but they have been worse. I am aware that the Aus server was shut down a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to know if this was normal?

freezing for 5 secs is connection problem
If you didn't have that problem previously then is due to ba server transfer

I think its a ba issue.I just had ba and a betfair page (firefox) open side by side. Betfair page was refreshing every second.Ba froze for 6 seconds, while the betfair page kept refreshing every second. It felt like ba was working better, not as many freezing times.Like the betfair page refreshing helped ba.

There is no reason to be ba's issue because other ba instances that connect to aus races dont have that problem ( I dont)
Probably the api trying to connect to the server and has problems
Maybe the diagnostic file will help at this case?

I'd imagine it's something you'll need to get used to now they've done away with the Aus servers and everything goes thru Ireland on the main global server.

When I used to connect to the AUS servers from the UK I used to get 'buffering' type delays too so now it's reversed I'd imagine the AUS players will suffer too. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the website working better as I think that has a separate odds feed to the API, many times the API will go downn but the web site still active.

Thanks for the reply's. I had a feeling this might be normal, now that the aus server's gone. I've got ba to a workable point.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
