In-Play response time anomaly

Postby bgow » Fri Jun 17, 2016 2:06 am

Hi,

Quick question regarding in-play response times. I'm based in Australia and bets placed pre-post (on Aus markets and therefore are going through the Aus server) are consistently getting response times ~100ms which is roughly consistent with the refresh time in the brackets which is usually 70-80ms. However when placing an in-play bet on Aus races I'm getting wildly inconsistent response times of anywhere between 1250ms-2500ms (am aware of the 1 sec in play delay obviously).

It's even worse on international in-play markets (France and USA notably), pre-post I'll get around 400ms (obviously longer because it's going through the UK server this time) but my in play response times are anywhere between 2200-4000ms (sometimes more). All bets are above BF minimum.

I'm on a reliable 30mbps cable connection with a high single digit ping. I would have thought 1200-1300ms would be acceptable for the Aus in play bets and 1500-1600ms for the international markets. Am I being overly optimistic? Why the huge variation in in-play response times? API issues or something in my local settings?

Also I'm commonly getting the CANNOT_ACCEPT_BET error, maybe 1 out of every 10 bets, could be related?

Thanks for any help

Quick bump - My ping is ~60ms to the AU server yet I'm still seeing in play response times generally north of 1800ms which renders it basically unusable for that purpose. Just occasionally I'll fluke a 1150ms but it's about 1 out of every hundred. I'm totally stumped.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
