Bug?

Postby GuitarJon » Wed Jul 22, 2015 8:17 pm

Hi All,

I have been using the Place_Bets Excel spreadsheet to automate backing a list of horses. It has been working well except for on a couple of occasions which I am baffled about and would appreciate it if anyone can advise why:

1) For some reason, before 1 race, it decided to back one selection twice, and then when I opened the place market as I though I might back the same horse there to place, I noticed it had already backed it there twice aswell!!!

2) I had two selections for one race, which had been working fine earlier today, but noticed in one race that of the two selections I had, only one of them had been backed despite them both being at the correct odds and names spelled correctly. The horse that hadn't been backed traded was at high odds of around 270. The horse that was backed was at 48. My maximum back odds for all selections is 1000 and minimum of 3 so I have no idea why this horse was not backed...I wanted it to be.

Any ideas or help on resolving this and presenting it happening again would be great?

Look forward to any help anyone can provide.

Kind Regards,
GuitarJon

1) If you changed the market in ba in the tab where you previously had the win market linked to ba then the new market (place market) was linked to ba at once and if your criteria were met ba placed two new bets at the new place market

Thanks, but that doesn't explain why in both cases the same horse was backed twice? Also do you have an answer for 2) and why it stopped placing bets?

1) remember the sheet will just back the named horses regardless of if they've been backed before so jumping back and to those markets will fire bets each time. Obvioulsy you could tweak the sheet to check for bets placed beforehand but may need a little VBA to delay , check , bet etc

2) Hard to say why it didn't back, are you sure the names match correctly? Little things like spaces, hyphens, apostrophes etc can all stop it firing. Are you also sure it didn't back and you just didn't get matched and it lapsed, are the bets kept in play ith the -IP trigger or lapse at the off?

Thanks Captain for your reply.

Re 1) I only opened each market once so not sure how the same horse was backed twice. That was the only time it happened.

Re 2) I am 100% sure the name was correct, I checked and double checked and triple checked. This was before the race had gone in play. One of the horses had a back bet triggered but this other one had no back bet against it and the clock was ticking down to the start of the race. I sat patiently watching to see if it would trigger at some point but it didn't. It wasn't trying either. No idea why that it.

This is from the spreadsheet I believe I downloaded from this forum somewhere called Place_Bets. I haven't tweaked anything, only controls like time to start, but not while this was running and connected to Gruss.

Regards,

Jon

I haven't seen the sheet so no idea what it does or what criteria it uses to bet.

But if it fired off a bet on one there's obviously nothing wrong with the program it's just for whatever reason it didn't match the triggers criteria on that particular runner. Whether that's down to the name not matching, odds not being met, even the trigger cell been corrupted you'd have to check all the criteria for that trigger cell to see why it didn't fire on that horse. From experiece of excel botting it's usually something minr you've maybe overlooked.

Hi, curious to see if someone already figured this out so far?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
