Placing a back bet In running with excel

Postby mickyxx1 » Sun May 27, 2012 7:23 pm

Hi, everyone
I was wondering if you could advice me from your experience and expert with my problem. I am placing a simple in running back bet using excel and my market is sprint race between 5F and 1.4 miles. My trigger is

=IF(AND(AA5=1,F5>1.05,F5<1.7,$F$2="",COUNTBLANK(T$5:T$50)=46),"BACK","")

which is a copy of the Lay_Favorite example with a few changes. The idea being to BACK the first horse which it's odds reached below 1.7 and i have been using the back price column R set to 1.65.

The problem is sometimes(~1/5) given that my market is sprint race and the price can drop or jump (i think, it's my assumption) below from 1.8 to 1.3 my trigger doesn't fire and doesn't show on the transaction log. And sometimes if it does fire unless the price moves up to 1.65 it's UNMATCHED bet. So i tried to solve this problem by putting the Column R the price F( the available BACK price). which means trying to match it at 1.3 or below. So can anyone suggest a better way to improve the MATCH price close to 1.65 like a better TRIGGER or is my assumption correct that's how the market behaves i am in or is it my refresh rate is wrong. I could use your help. Thks in advance. [/i]

Hello,

I was doing something simmilar in my past and encountered the same "problem". There's not much you can do if the price runs toward 1.00, it will never catch your bet. However, if it bounces once, there is a possibility that your bet will be collected.

What you can do to put your bet more quickly is to put the Refresh rate to 0,2 secs in the preferences of the profile that you're using in BA for horse trading.

Regards,
Dean

HI Dean,

Thanks for your input i have changed the refresh rate 0.2 seconds and throttle request 20 per sec.( not sure if that means i exceeded the limit without getting charged premium from BF). And there is a big improvement i was able to match all my bets today at exact or close to the price i wanted which is good. i am gone see how the whole week is going to performer. Many thks.

you're welcome. 20 requests is the max limit for being not charged by BF. Don't worry. Good luck with the strategy.

don't make any conclusions before you try the strategy at least at 1.000 races.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
