Placing multiple offsetting bets

Postby markg » Sun Oct 16, 2011 1:15 pm

Hi,

Currently a run a horse racing strategy using a slightly modified version of the Place_Bets spreadsheet where I use the trigger modifier -PL85-IPC-F30 in order to place an offsetting bet which I hope to get matched in play. I am now finding that, as I increase my bet sizes, the offsetting bet is becoming very large relative to the liquidity in play and I would like to run a strategy using multiple offsetting bets at slightly different prices on the way down such that if all offset bets get matched I become fully 'greened out'.

I was thinking that the simplest way to do this through gruss now would be to modify the Place_bets sheet to place three separate bets per selection, each with a different trigger modifier (say -PL85-IPC-F30, -PL75-IPC-F30 and -PL65-IPC-F30) but I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

Any help in achieving this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Easiest way for you is to have three separate tabs running three separate excel sheets, they'll all share the same data so it won't increase your data usage and should all fire off closely together.

Otherwise you'll need to look at using some vba to set a flag once the first bet is fired to fire off subsequent bets on each refresh

Cheers Captain Sensible, much appreciated.

If I go for the three separate tabs route would it work if I literally copy the sheet I'm using now and just modify the -PLXX code for each one? Gruss won't get confused between the different pairs of bets on different tabs will it?

Thanks again,

Mark

Yes just modify the sheet you currently use, each tab is treated separately and monitors it's own submitted bets so can't see any reason for gruss to get confused

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
