Refresh rate problem

Postby Jake » Sun Oct 30, 2011 5:55 pm

Hi,

I'm quite new to this software and atm I have some problems with the refresh rate.
I'm using a spreadsheet for triggered betting.
I'm using the quick pick list and as soon as a race starts Betting Assistant jumps to the next race. So far everything is fine and works without any problems. The problem is that Betting Assistant always sets the refresh rate to 3.0. Even if I change it to a lower value when the next race is loaded the refresh rate is up to 3.0 again. I searched for a possibility to set a default refresh rate but I can't find it.

Hi,

There is a setting in Preferences under the General tab to set the default refresh rate.

You can also set the refresh rate for the current market from the Excel spreadsheet via cell Q2

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

thank you very much. I looked at that general tab 10 times or more but I didn't see it. Thanks for the hint regarding cell Q2.

I have another little question to the refresh rate and the throttle limit. I'm using another bot which is set to a refresh rate of 4.0 sek and a throttle limit of 8. I actually don't know exactly if it ever reaches this limit but I don't think so because I always only have the current uk horse race win and place markets open at the same time.

What do you think? What would be the best possible refresh rate for me with Betting Assistant without risking a data charge? Set the throttle limit to 8 also?
I need the best possible refresh rate for pre-race trading in uk horse markets.

Thanks,

Jake.

The charge threshold is 20 requests per second so I recommend making the total 19 to be on the safe side, ie. you can set the throttle limit in Betting Assistant to 11 if the other application is 8. Don't forget Betfair's website also counts as requests so as long as you are viewing just one market on the website at the same time without using a refresh script you will be ok.

Gary goodmorning
just to clarify... If i have 2 BA (not 2 tabs)open with the same markets open,
Betfair still counts the refresh limit for the same account?

If for example you have two separate BA instances open refreshing at 10 requests per second each. Betfair will count this as 20 requests per second. Even if they are different accounts they will link them and count 20 requests.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
