windows7 and excel 2010 slow

Postby kapilay » Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:26 pm

Hi,
I have just switched to Windows7 and Excel2010 from XP64 and Excel2007. BA is very slow to load and to refresh and getting any updates into excel is even slower. Market load takes approx 5 seconds. Refresh (when rate is set to 0.2) varies from 2 to 10 seconds. Getting anything into excel is approx. 10 times slower.

I have searched the forum and found no such problems being discussed, so I have to assume this is not a common problem.

Everything else is running fine (hugely better than XP) and I don't want to go back to XP, but I suppose I will have to if I can't solve this problem.

Any help from any source will be most appreciated.

It's definitely not a common problem. Something must be interfering with it. I think you first need to establish if it's a connection issue. There are no compatibility issues with Windows 7, it is developed on a Windows 7 PC.

1. Check your proxy settings, it may have changed without your knowledge. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135982 (it uses the same settings as Internet Explorer)

2. Reboot your PC and router.

Hi Garry,

Thanks for the response and apologies for the delay in getting back.

I zapped my machine and rebuilt it from scratch. I have also made a number of changes to the network setup. Still not good. Better than before, but still not good.

I might try a few more things before giving up and going back to my previous configuration.

Many thanks for your input.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
