Dutching the dogs

Postby dixiedean » Sun Oct 23, 2011 9:26 pm

Hi All

I'm currently dutch betting on 2 dogs based upon rank position, however sometimes when the order changes it is placing a 3rd bet, is there a way to limit the amount of bets my excel sheet will place per race IE: only the 2 bets based upon rank at the time the trigger fires?

Thanks

Hi,

You could put a formula in to count the number of bet refs in column T (i.e. the number of bets already submitted)
e.g. in T3 you could put =COUNTA(T5:T10)

Then assuming the first 2 bets are submitted at the same time, in the trigger column you could use in IF statement to check if T3 equals 0
e.g. =IF(T3=0,"BACK","")
So after the first 2 bets are submitted T3 will be 2 and therefore no more bets can be submitted.

Mark

Tried this in column q but it doesnt work?

=IF(AND(E$2="Not In Play",F$2<>"Suspended"),IF(AA5="BACK",IF(AND(Z5=A5,AG5="N",$AJ$5="Y"),AA5&AA$2,""),IF(AND(Z5=A5,AF5="N",$AJ$5="Y",$T$3=0,"BACK",""),)))

Your formula seems a bit complicated to me. Personally i'd just take the formula you already had in the trigger cell but start it with =IF($T$3>0,"",

This way you bypass everything if there are any bet refs at all.

Hi,

What Yorkie said is probably the best approach.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
