Questions concerning Conditional Bets

Postby badtrader » Mon Oct 03, 2011 3:25 pm

Hi all,
first of all, i would to congrats developers for "giving" us such a tool. :D
Then, i have a question about conditional bets.

I used to lay horses in-play so would like to do this :

IF LAY MATCHED (no matter odds) => GREENED UP WHEN (enter here the percentage of benefit chosen) % is shown on level profit.
(Of course, if it's not possible to green up, it's a loss)

I mean, i don't want to chose a horse in particular. I used to study markets and then place my lay at low odds in a horse which (i think) has the most chance to lose.

Thanks to all.

Hi,

The only way to do what you are looking for using Betting Assistant is to use the Excel triggered Betting feature.
If you have Microsoft Excel and are interested in setting up a spreadsheet then have a look at the video in the following link:-

http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6046

There is a also a sample spreadsheet that has the calculations required for greening up.

See http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4659

Mark

Hi Mark and thanks.
I will try to do a spreadsheet tonight.
If anyone has done something similar, please share it.

Hi all,

i've done my own spreadsheet.
Now i have a problem with the code and formula. I've tried a lot of things but i don't know what to put in Trigger cases.
I don't want to specify odds on my formula, just IF a LAY is MATCHED, BACK SAME SELECTION in ORDER TO GREEN UP.

Insert FORMULA
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
IF
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
AND(...)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Difficult.

Hi,

To back the same selection once your lay bet is matched you could use the LAY trigger with Tick Offset Modifier.
You will need to specify a number of ticks difference between the lay and back bet or a percentage difference or you can specify fixed odds for the back bet.
You can either use same stake as the matched lay bet or you can incorprate the level profit modifier so that the profit gets evenly split across all selecttions.

So lets say you want to use 20 ticks difference the the tiggers are:-
LAY-T20 or with level profit LAY-TL20

Or say using 50% difference then:-
LAY-P50 or LAY-PL50

Or say using fixed odds of 5.0 then:-
LAY-TF5 or LAY-TLF5

Hope that helps.

Mark

Hi Mark and thanks again.

So, i must copy and past this formula in each line of Trigger Column :

IF
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
AND(LAY IS MATCHED, "BACK-TN20")
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

LAY IS MATCHED : how could i transcript this ? knowing that it will be for each line of Trigger column ?

With this code :
after my initial lay is matched, a BACK is placed (in the same selection) at +20 ticks for a Auto Level Profit.

Hi,

If you use LAY-TL20 for example and specifying odds and stake to use for the lay bet in the trigger columns then the software will submit a lay bet for the selection that you have used the trigger against. As soon as the lay bet is matched the back bet is automatically submited at 20 ticks higher than the lay bet matched odds using the appropriate stake so as to green up should the back bet get matched.

So all you need to put for the actual trigger column is LAY-TL20 and then the software does the rest. Make sure you put the stake and odds to be used in the stake & odds trigger columns before putting in the trigger.

Mark

Hi Mark and thanks again for your patience.
Just some questions and then i will work on my spreadsheet.

1) If the lay is placed via Betting Assistance interface, the trigger doesn't work ; well i mean the formula won't work ?

2) There is nothing more "simple" to GREEN UP at some [ %] after a lay is MATCHED ?
These sort of functions should be available on the software as i lot of people seem to ask for it.

IF BACK MATCHED => LAY-TL(x)
IF LAY MATCHED => BACK-TL(x)

Hi,

You can either submit the Tick Offset bet with level profit manually from the main Betting Assistant interface using the Grid or you can trigger it from Excel using the trigger I mentioned before.

If you are using the Grid interface, it is very easy to green up using the level profit column, i.e. just click on it when you see a figure you like.

If you want automated green up then Tick Offset with Level Profit option is very simple to use.

Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
