take SP if bets are unmatched

Postby chip » Wed Sep 28, 2011 2:58 pm

I currently place my bets through the excel interface, and everything is working fine. But I would like to move things on, and one thing I would like to know how to do is manage any unmatched bets. At the moment with my betting I would be happy taking betfair SP on any unmatched bets - just not too sure how to do this through the interface.

Any ideas anyone?

In the top right hand corner on the grid you'll see the betting options tab where you can set the default keep settings for your bets. You can choose between having bets set to keep in play or be converted to SP bets at inplay.

Alternatively if you look at the bottom of the screen you'll see the bets manager section of the program where again you can now set individual settings for each bet to go inplay or SP just by ticking the relevant box next to the bet.

If you're talking about bets being placed via excel going to SP just look in the user manual as it's just a case of adding the SP or IP modifiers to your current triggers

i.e. LAY changed to LAY-SP

Thanks for that - exactly what I was looking for.

Just one more question now. Sometimes there is a gap in the prices between the "Back" and "Lay" prices. Is there an easy way of placing a bet at one tick higher than the "Back" price? I am not trading so I am not interested in offset bets - I just want to try my hardest to get the best possible price for my selections.

On the main grid screen you'll see a box called 'Offset Requests' in the betting options. From there you can set any amount of ticks you want to be added to the price box you click to bet.

So you'd basically change that back offset box to -1 and if you clicked to bet on an odds box with 4.5 it would place your bet minus one tick down and submit at 4.4

For excel you can use the vba code gary did here

http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewt ... minusticks

just use minusTicks routine to place the bet one tick below the odds in column H

SP BETS

Postby BERTRAND » Mon Oct 03, 2011 9:14 am

I want to manually back up to 4 horses in a race at actual SP--with an offset, but I read in the manual that ticking the "keep sp inplay" box will only convert unmatched bets. So do I set the minimum odds to 1000 or something else?

If I want to set my offset differently for each selection, then I have to open up to 4 instances of BA?

Are you doing this via excel or via the grid, Bertrand?

Thru excel you can have whatever offset you set in your trigger, if you're doing it via the grid you don't need 4 instances running but you would have to amend the tick offset for each selection before you place the bet. BA would remember whatever offset you applied to each bet separately. Remember you need the market to be open for BA to monitor any offsets etc and closing the tab or switching markets would cancel offsets.

Yes just submit the bet at 1000 and keep sp in play and you'd get the actual BSP.

Kudos to support team! So rare I find short but precise answers.

Anticipating a query and giving the answer ahead is even more impressive!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
