Protection for our money?

Postby N Counter » Fri Sep 30, 2011 2:25 pm

Does anyone know what protection if any there would be for the money we have deposited with Betfair should the company fail? Would they be classed as a financial service provider?

Not sure about the UK part of it as they are located in another country and seam to do as they please.

I am sure the Australian side has some sort of guarantee but after seeing the recent bookie failure and punters left with possibly nothing there is no way to guarantee a company that has no money to return.

If they close due to management raiding the accounts then nothing is for sure.

The best option is only have what money is needed to operate any account on a weekly basis deposited with any gambling site.

I'm pretty sure that the money is insured and that is standard for all credited sites.

Trying sending them an email @ info@betfair.com. They are the best people to answer your concern.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
