Prices matched on betfair graph

Postby andak fedal » Wed Sep 07, 2011 6:43 pm

As an experiment I layed the odds on favourite odds as many times as poss in a particular race and although I was delighted to see it lose, I realised I got nowhere near the lowest price matched for it on the betfair graph :(

Is it possible to achieve anywhere close to the lowest price matched without paying data charges?

I think this could be related to my dodgy Sky Broadband!

I remember looking at the transaction log and can't remember all the response times but there were definitely some at 800ms and some over 1000ms... and judging by the results in the next race I would say it seems as though my bets are being 'left up' even though I'm using LAY-F1 :(

Gary, I am using multiple sheets and although the max requests are shared, because they are staggered, I should still be recieving responses at around 200ms for each bet right?

Do you think this is my internet connection? Is there a conclusive way of finding out?

Thanks

Were the bets made in play? If they were in play you need to take into account the fact that Betfair impose a 1 second delay. Therefore a response time of 1200ms is actually equivalent to 200ms before in play because it includes the 1000ms delay.

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know this. I'll have another look later today at the response times then.

Could you confirm for me please that the response times should still be around 1200ms for the bets even with multiple sheets? (Each sheet is set to the minimum refresh and the throttle requests is 20 and staggered is set btw)

I am pleased to confirm that the transactions for my bets are all in the 1200/1300 range. :)

I was suprised to see the transactions for the Fill or kill in there even though all my bets were fully matched...

Do these transactions count as separate requests to the bets then and therefore potentially slow my triggered betting down.

No they don't count as additional requests. You see entries for fill or kill even when matched because it tries to cancel without checking if matched. A benefit of doing this is that it will work even if the market is not open because it doesn't have to check the bets first.

Many thanks for confirming Gary.

I guess I'll just need to actually start winning and generate some decent commission before i can make more requests then as it seems my set up is a efficient as possible for the time being.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
