Bets refresh failed

Postby Grisu » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:15 pm

Hello,
BA for BF works perfect like always, but there seems to be a problem with BA for BD. When I start the excel import it works for 2 or 3 refreshed and then stops. the Excel error log says "Bets refresh failed" every 10 seconds.
Someone else has this problem?
regards,
Grisu

Can you send the diagnostic log to admin@gruss-software.co.uk
It is named "BA_Diagnostic.txt" and is located in "c:\temp\Betting Assistant for Betdaq Logs".

Are you running any other Betdaq application using the same account at the same time? If you are it could be the requests are getting throttled by Betdaq.

no I don't use any other BD application. Also no problem with the BA application itself. It's only the case when i try to export to excel.

I have received the log thank you but it didn't log what I needed to know so I have added more logging code. I have replied to your email with a link to a new version.

Can you also try the updated version and send the diagnostic log as mentioned in my previous post. Please uninstall and re-install from the link below. Make sure you have version 1.0.7.3 after installation.

hi Gary,
strange, from what I understand you changed the togging code only. But after installing v1.0.7.3 the Excel export seems to work fine. If you need the log file I will sent it. But I gues it makes no sense when it works. many thanks anyway for helping me.

Hi Gary,

I will send you the log file with 14Mb. Hopefully the file size is not to big.

It's because you are not getting quick enough responses from Betdaq's API. The problem could be your ISP or Betdaq's server. The default minimum timeout value is 200ms. If it fails to get a response within this time then the request fails. The log shows this is happening constantly. Change the settings manually.

1. Select performance options from the options menu.
2. Untick "Automatically adjust".
3. User the slider to adjust the price and bet refresh timeout values to 1000ms.

See how you get on with the above settings.

ok, thanks Gary!
what I dont understand is
1) I have no Problems with BF and a 16Kbit/s connection. So there is a high possibility that BD cannot response fast enough.
2) If I look at your Software everything works fine only the export to Excel stops refreshing. :?

1. It's a different exchange. Just because you have no problems with Betfair it doesn't follow you won't have problems with Betdaq.

2. I've explained it's the timeout. Have you tried my solution?

Yes it works with Your solution. I thought response time is equivalent to refresh rate. well, thats why you are the software developer and I'm only the stupid user...thanks for helping.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
