App or opt that allow simu placing of bets on e 2 exchanges

Postby zorro99 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 5:53 am

I know should have been posted in the suggestion forum, but since this is an idea in respond to the increasing PC charges I thought it might have more discussion here. Basically the idea is to have a betting app (or added to BA as an option) that will allow users to place/cancel bets simultaneously on the 2 exchanges with a single click on the same market offered by both exchanges.

MAIN REASONING/BENEFITS

- To increase liquidity in betdaq (especially in-running). This allows people betting in-running to add liquidity to betdaq (and hopefully attracting more liquidity in the future) yet not missing out on the current liquidity in current betfair markets

- To allow users to get the best odds in both exchanges

There will need to be changes to the interface of course, either have separate market views for the 2 exchanges with the ability to place/cancel bets with a common interface, or if its not too messy a combined common view for the 2 exchanges (the prices and $$ on the market will need to indicate its from betfair or betdaq). Of course all this is possible now by opening a betfair and betdaq apps, entering the prices offered and click submit for each app. But for people betting in-running (as most people using the geeks toy would be) that will be a nuisance and maybe impossible due to the time lag in between.

Rather then being at the mercy of betfair and their changing rules, the best solution is to help rival competitor grow. However most people are still stuck betfair due to the poor liquidity in some betdaq markets. Some things will need to be worked out of course (linking the markets automatically or manually etc) but what do you all think of this suggestion?

Sorry this is never going to happen. It is against Betfair's terms and conditions to have an app that can place bets on both Betfair and Betdaq. The apps must be completely separate.

Yes exactly, wouldn't be to hard to write code to use both with excel.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
