2 simultanius bets...possible?

Postby TotalPyro » Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:57 pm

I am new to all this so apologies for my nieve question....
... but I am trying to build a robot using my very moderate Excel skills and the triggers built into the program.
Can anyone tell me how I could place a LAY and BACK simultaniusly on a single horse in a race?
And is it them possible to make further bets on that horse using different criteria?

Sorry, it doesn't support simultaneous bets. To place more than one bet on the same selection you need to use the CLEAR trigger to remove the bet reference from column T which will allow another bet to be triggered.

Thank you for that.... how about simultanius bet...?
Using the back and lay bet as an example could you type:
Back - CLEAR - LAY...?
It would draw the stake information for both of these from the stake cell...
Is it possible to have more than one bet per horse running simultaniusly even if they wern't placed simultaniusly?

Yes. It's only that they cannot be placed at the exact same time.

You could have the market open twice and use one worksheet for the lay and one for the back.

Thank you both for your responses, I am beginning to understand how astratergy could be implemented....

Could I place simultanius bets on the same horse in the same worksheet if I used some VBA code?

Whether I used 1 worksheet or 2, is it possible to then place further bets on a horse, usin different criteria and triggered by a previous bet becoming matched?

I think the only way to place a back and lay at the same time is to log the market to two different worksheets, by having the same market on two different tabs, at least that's what I do. If they have the same refresh rate then requests are shared, so you need not worry about that.

If you wish to place further bets then you will need to use the clear trigger.

Hi Graham
Thank you... I will have to use 2 worksheets....
Are them some examples of the Clear command being used in Gruss that I can study to see how I can best use it when making multiple bets?

Cheers

I don't know of any examples which you could modify.

It probably could be done using formalue alone, referencing the MyBets sheet, and the Bet reference column.

Or you could use VBA, if you are comfortable with it.

I would like the robot to automatically back a horse and then when the bet is matched automatically fire an offest bet into the market. I presume I do this by the BACK-T2 trigger.

Now when the offset bet is matched I would like the robot to fire another back bet and when match offset bet into the market and the cycle to contue each time the offest bet is matched.

How can I acheive this?
Will this happen anyway as soon as the offset bet is matched or will I have to use the CLEAR tigger?

You will still need to use the clear trigger.

If you are using tick offset then you will only need one worksheet, as the tick offset bet will be placed automatically once the back is matched. These will not be simultaneous though.

If you have no other trades in the market, then the simplest way is to check whether you have the same number of matched backs and lays in the MyBets sheet. If so, then use the clear trigger, conditionally that the bet reference column contains a reference, and that reference is not a partial match (ie, ends in P)

You can do this with VBA or a formulae.

Hi Graham... thank you for all your help....
Ok what I really need to know now is.... after the first BACK bet has been fired into the market and matched and autromatically generated offset lay bet is fired into the market and matched.... how can I automatically fire another back bet into the market that will automatically fire an offset lay bet to market once it is matched - BACK-T2?

I suppose my question is what happens when the offset lay bet is matched?
I presume that until this offset lay bet is matched the initial BACK-T2 trigger will not fire again.
Or will it fire again without the bet ref being clear first from the offset lay bet?

If it is the case that for the BACK-T2 bet be continuously fired once the offest lay is match from the previous bet that we have to use the CLEAR TRIGGER, how do I do this?

BACK-T2-CLEAR
Would the trigger above do this? I don't know how to add one trigger staement to another(BACK and CLEAR)

If I didn't add CLEAR to the trigger above what would happen as the bets were matched?

You have to be careful with any bet that clears the betref cell as you don't want continuous bets flying in to the market at uncontrolled amounts.

I would use a helper cell, when you are loading excel there is an option on the right in that list to flag offset bets, this add another column to your sheet that will display when an offset bet is sent so all you would need to do is watched for this cell when it is sent you can check for the bet to be matched once matched you could then clear the betref and fire another bet.

Hi Shaun
This is exactly what I need... thank you.... but how do I get these offset betrefs on 2 Excels sheets open simultaniusly showing the same race data?

I only seem to be able to select this option if only one sheet is open..?... if I select 'log multiple sheets quick link' this option is not available?

Thanks.....

Are you sure you really need two worksheets?

Maybe I have misunderstood, but if you want to use tick offset then only one worksheet is sufficient.

As I understand it, when your condition to enter the market, you want to place a back bet, which, when it is matched, place a lay bet.

When the lay is matched then, upon your conditions being met, re-enter the market with another back with tick offset, and so on.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
