Mystery

Postby N Counter » Wed Jun 15, 2011 12:23 pm

Can anyone help me solve a mystery? I have often checked to see how much money has been matched on outcomes offered at odds of 1,000 like 0-0 when a goal has been scored. I often find that the total matched at 1,000 is only pennies. How is this possible when the minimum stake is £2? I understand the 3 stage procedure for placing a below min stake bet but surely the first stage is to send a bet of £2 at odds of 1,000 which would be matched. I have asked betfair help desk and they are unable to answer. Any ideas?

You can create a below minimum stake bet at other odds like say 900 and then update the odds to 1000

Surely if you were asking for back odds of 900 then all would get matched at 1000?

No your bet goes in as an unmatched bet at 900. You only get matched at higher odds when you try to put a back bet at lower odds than the market is currently offering. Try it for yourself.

Mark means if the bet was put in when the price was below 900 it would be in the queue and then would be matched when it goes up to 1000.

But these matches have been occuring after 1,000 was offered to potential backers. Sometimes for as little as a penny!

If the odds being offered are already at 1000 then I can only think that the pennies must be from partial matches.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
