Remote Desktop Connection - Issue viewing Excel quick link

Postby Graham » Fri May 27, 2011 1:00 pm

Hopefully some kind soul will have encountered the same problem I have when running BA on a server and using Remote Desktop Connection, and will be able to provide a simple answer!

If I have more than about 12 workbooks linked with excel quick link, the button to start logging is off the bottom of the screen. This is only when I log in from my netbook, which has a 10inch screen. I am viewing in full screen.

I have exhausted google searches relating to scrolling remote desktop, and I know the answer is probably very straightforward, but if anyone has encountered this and knows a fix then please let me know!

Don't use full screen. Use the slider to select a resolution big enough. 1024x768 should be enough. You should then be able to scroll the remote desktop window to see more of the remote desktop.

In case you are not sure what I mean I am talking about the setting for the remote desktop, not your local PC. When you open the remote desktop program, select options, select the display tab and change the resolution there.

Thanks Gary, tried that (although the largest i could get was 1024*600) Unfortunately, I can see all of the remote desktop, ie down to the taskbar, but the bottom of the quick pick list page is not visible. I am very reluctantly on the verge of giving up, this has me well and truly baffled!

I'm going to release an update in the next few days. I can reduce the height of the quick link window which will solve this problem.

Actually, that's always been an issue with my netbook and not using Remote Desktop.

The quick link window should fit on a Netbook's display now. I have reduced the height to 550 pixels in versions 1.1.0.65z8 and 1.1.0.66x64 Beta.

Great job, thank you very much!!

Sorry to have caused you extra work, I only came on here to ask in case somebody knew how to view more of the display in remote desktop, I didn't expect you to go changing the software!

It's very much appreciated, and means that I can now go on holiday with the wife and kids now.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
