Gareth, to the best of my knowledge no internet stream will ever beat terrestrial, satellite or cable for speed.

If you want to beat ATR and RUK, what you need is an exchange shop receiving SIS AND Turf TV. However, they'll charge you about £20 to £30 per day.

Do you really need fast pics for your strategies? Don't forget, even the exchange shops are beaten by the on-course teams.

There are some very experienced in-running players on this forum. From what I can glean from their posts, they're as likely to rely on their Excel algorithms to identify and place their in-running trades as they are to rely on their eyes and fingers during racing.

Personally, I steer well clear of in-running action, as I'm too slow to take advantage of what I see on ATR/RUK, and too thick to work out how to trade in-running with Gruss and Excel.

That said, there are plenty of pre-race opportunities for us. For the past year and a half I've made some (very) modest profits backing and laying at Betfair SP with the help of Gruss and Excel.

Good luck if you're going in-running.

hi gareth.

virgin cable ATR and RUK are both delayed by around 6 seconds.
sky ATR is about 5 seconds behind
sky RUK is about 3 seconds behind ( not sure though )
betfair video is about 3 seconds behind live on ATR and RUK ( lay the outsider at 1.01 for £2 to view the race , video usually starts 3 minutes before the off time )

if you are still in an analogue area the delay can be as little as .5 seconds behind live ( half a second ) when the racing is on bbc or channel 4 . but you still have to double check by looking at betfair video on your computer and comparing it to what you see on your tv to make sure that they aren't using the same feeds, as sometimes the delay on analogue is the same as
betfair video.

Thanks for the reply Andy.

That would be brilliant i'd love to go down and see how the big-time in-running punters go about they'r business.
Thanks a lot for the advice mate, it's much appreciated. As soon as my Betfair Balance grows a bit more i'l be getting in contact with the exchange shop :D

Cheers Mate,
Gareth.

Gareth,

All of the Betfair data that appears in the Gruss grid interface can be imported into Excel for analysis, and to subsequently trigger bets.

There's a good introduction to how to do this in the Gruss help pages.

However, don't try to run before you can walk. All that Excel triggered betting will do is automate and speed up your own strategies — the trick is in developing the strategies.

Excel integration is what distinguishes Gruss from some other software products, and this forum has many contributions from some very clever and helpful users (I'm not one of them — I've still got my L-plates on).

You can do a lot worse that read through as many forum threads as you can, some of which go back for years. There's tips and advice for forming strategies, and tips and advice about implementing them via Excel triggerred bets.

Good luck
.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
