Conditional place only bet of £2 but only 0.06 placed

Postby lew » Thu Apr 14, 2011 5:05 pm

Hi, hopefully you can answer my question. I wanted to test the Betting Assistant's conditional betting facility in play. So I placed a conditional bet of just £2 on a horse at odds of exactly 1.05, the horse won its race but a bet of only 6 pence was placed.

Is this because only 6 pence of the £2 was matched in play, if so is there some other setting I could have used to ensure the whole £2 got matched?

As it was I did not win anything nor did I lose anything.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm sure it would have placed the full £2. It wouldn't just place some random amount so it has to be that it was partially matched. In the conditional bets screen enter a negative value in the tick offset column. If you enter -5 for example it will place the back 5 ticks lower. This will give you a better chance of being matched, but there are no guarantees. There is also the chance you will be matched at lower odds, but that is the nature of in running.

Gary,

Thank you very much. I will try something along the lines you suggest.

Cheers

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
