Staking Mode

Postby chaser » Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:41 am

Would it be possible to include in preferences, an option to pre-set the Staking Mode.
On the trading interface the default setting is 'Stake'
I mainly trade to 'Liability' and it would be handy if I could pre-set this in preferences, and change it on the trading screen, if on an occasion I want to trade to a stake.
thanks chaser

I would endorse this request as I also trade to payout rather than stake or liability,\

It's only a small addition so I have added the option to general preferences. I will not do an auto update just now, but if you want to install the update you can click here

Not sure if this is a bug introduced by this update or it has always been the case, but if I have payout as the default, and I want to BACK using the verify pop-up, I am unable to change the stake by clicking the stake value boxes.

It's not a bug. It's always been like that. In Payout mode the stake is calculated for you therefore it's disabled and you can only change the odds. To change the stake select "Stake" from the radio buttons before entering your stake.

Gary, I'm talking about when you want to BACK not lay but you have staking mode set at payout. There are no radio button in the pop-up box.

I see. That will be a bug then. Sorry I thought it was such a simple addition. It just shows why I am reluctant to add anything until the Beta is promoted to the official version. I am working on a fix now.

I assumed I would be able to replicate this immediately, but I must be missing something. I changed it to default payout and the first thing I did after logging is was to open a market and click to place a back bet. At this stage it would let me alter the stake. Does it happen every time for you? Can you list a sequence of steps I can follow from logging in to reproduce this problem?

Sorry, I'm having a bad day. I should have read your initial message properly. It's the preset stake boxes that are the problem. I will fix it asap.

Looks like the problem has always been there and simply hasn't been spotted before. It also exists in the official release. I will release an update in the morning.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
