Save settings/Profiles

Postby Spamfree » Sun Nov 28, 2010 8:47 pm

I have had one set of custom column prices/stakes and each time I opened BA they were always there. I have never used profiles. I thought I read that the new version enable transfer of setting to another PC so just downloaded 1.1.0.66x37

I went through and set up 10 custom columns prices/stakes/colours. I wanted to save these so assumed that was done via profiles. I clicked profile Add Profile - this immediately wiped all the customer columns settings I had just created! I'm struggling to see what these Profiles actually do. If I change a custom column odds and then switch between two profiles the change is there in both.

I want to have 2 markets open with a different set of custom column prices/stakes in each. Is this possible using profiles or do they ignore custom column settings? i.e. you can only have one set of custom columns.

Each profile is a for a separate running instance of BA. BA does not support separate profiles within the same instance. So sorry it's not possible to do what you want unless you run two instances of BA, one for each market. ie. launch BA with default profile and open the first market then launch BA again, select a 2nd profile and open the 2nd market.

Sorry if you got the wrong impression, but I have never stated that the new version supported transferring of profiles to another PC. It is however planned for a future release.

I've just tried what you suggested.

I opened my BA with the settings I did yesterday. This is my win market settings but I didn't create a profile for it so I assumed these settings are what would open using "standard" when I log in. Yesterday I also added a profile called Place but did nothing with it.

Just now I opened a new instance of BA using the Place profile which contained just default settings (as expected). I did several settings in that. I closed BA, reopened it using the Place profile and the place settings are there (as expected). Then just to test I haven't lost my win settings, assumed stored under "standard" - I closed the second instance of BA and opened it using "standard". This opened but with all the default settings not my win settings - not expected, why is that? I have my first instance of BA still open with my win settings - when I close it and re-open BA using "standard" will it open with my win market settings or will it be the default settings and I've lost my win market settings again?

I think what I'm missing is a "Save this profile as....." after I have done the settings I want. I daren't touch profile in my first instance of BA in case I lose my win markets settings (if I haven't already!).

From what you described I can't see how you lost your win settings. If you close the instance you have now with the win settings it should save them under the "Default" profile as long as that is what is displayed in the title bar.

You can try closing everything, open the first instance using the default profile, open the second instance with the place profile, change just one setting in each, close both and then check if saved as expected. Once you are happy it is saving them as expected then you can change the rest of the settings. If it still isn't working then please let me know.

I am not closing my first instance of BA down until racing finishes!

You are right that in the top bar of my first instance of BA it does say Profile:Default

However if I open a second BA and let it default to "Standard" at log in, at the top that says Profile:Standard. Is there anyway to make it open as default with the win settings? At log-in in the drop down the only options are Standard and the Place I created.

I am hoping when I close my first instance and re-open using Standard it will say Profile:default and the win settings will all be there.

I closed down the first instance of BA and when re-opening it there is a Default option in the dropdown box (unlike in the 2nd instance) - which had saved my settings.

I see now that we cannot have two of the same profiles or the default open at the same time.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
