Cell Q2....again

Postby osknows » Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:20 pm

I have a few questions as I've noticed a few quirks with the new version v66x17 in relation to the use of cell Q2. Perhaps it's more than likely I'm doing something wrong again :)

1. Using multiple quick link with say 6 horse racing markets linked. If 5 of the markets are set to a refresh rate of 10secs and 1 market is 0.2secs. When the 0.2s refresh market suspends and goes into play excel doesn't refresh again for another 10secs afte rthe market un-suspends even though both BA and excel say 0.2s? The delay appears to match the refresh rates of the other markets

2. The auto tick box next to refresh in BA. If I uncheck it my refresh rates in BA and excel speed up but no prices refresh in either excel or BA.? When I click auto refesh back on all appears ok.

3. Has anything changed in the way -1 is placed in Q2? I seem to be having a few markets hang and I thought I'd already trapped most of these in earlier versions

I'll PM a video showing 2. above

Thanks

1. Are you changing the refresh rate using Q2 from 0.2 seconds to 10 seconds when the market turns in play? ie. does this problem occur just after you change the refresh rate?

2. I'll wait for your video.

3. Not to cause a market hanging problem that I know of. Can you look at "Display Excel link activity" on the Excel menu next time it happens and send me the log.

1. No It changes to 0.2secs 2 minutes before the scheduled off and resets to 10 when the next market loads.

Can't see why it would do that. It doesn't do anything to the refresh when the market turns in play. I'll investigate.

I've now seen the video you sent for this. Your formula in Q2 includes "=if(OR(F2="Suspended","Closed"),10"
When the race is suspended just before the start Q2 changed to 10 which can be seen in the video.

BA reads cell Q2 before writing cell F2 so you see 10 appear in Q2 before the next refresh so at this point Excel shows 10 and BA is still at 0.2 seconds. The next refresh occurs and then the refresh rate was set to 10 in BA then it immediately writes F2 again and this time it's not suspended so Q2 now shows 0.2, but BA is now at 10 seconds and does not refresh again for 10 seconds before reading 0.2 and setting it back to 0.2 This is where the 10 second delay is coming in.

One thing you could do is change it so it only changes to 10 when F2 contains "Suspended" for an extended period of time.

I cannot see anything wrong in the video. Have you understood what the auto check box does? It stops BA from auto refreshing at the set refresh rate. It will then only refresh when you click the refresh icon next to the total matched amount. When it's unticked prices and bets will not update and therefore Excel will not update either. Or have I misunderstood your problem?

Thanks a lot Gary. I knew it would be me again! I've been physically watching things this week which I've very rarely been able to do previously so I'm seeing things I don't normally have a chance to pick up. Sorry for the false alarm

Thank you

My regular PC is now back up and running and I just want to add that v66x17 is actually very stable for the functions I use. Looks like all of the supposed problems I mentioned above were either due to a slower PC, errors in my new code and misunderstanding of BA functions. Seems like a good lesson not to change version of BA, PC and spreadheet all at the same time

Sorry for wasting your time

All the best

After Betfair's server maintenance today the markets cannot load. You will need to install the latest Beta version 1.1.0.66x18 to fix this problem. Please use the link below.

It won't appeal to everybody, but I'm revamping the charts at the moment. They look pretty if I do say so myself :D

I have now released this as the official Beta version.
The first of many new indicators has been added: MACD
Here is a short demo of the new charting options available.

Has the "chart from betfair" option been removed on the new beta version? Previously the option to look at the betfair chart appeared after the race has finished and the market suspended. Doesn't apper to be there in the new beta, any chance of it being reinstated as I found it useful saved me having to look at the price chart on the website

See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5528 for solution. A rather poor design choice. I will implement this better in the next release.

ver 1.1.0.66x27

Postby Fixador » Fri Nov 12, 2010 10:44 am

If have tab with no mkt selected - Acct balance in top LH corner shows £0.00

If tab has mkt selected - Act balance shows ok

If from a tab with mkt selected - Open NEW tab ( and so no mkt selected intially ) - again Acct balance becomes £0.00

most disquieting to see £99,000 'disappear' from my BF acct !

I think this has only appeared since yesterdays auto update

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
