Excel Web Query

Postby Royville » Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:48 pm

I hope this post is not out of order here as it's really more of an excel query than a ba, but I don't know where else to ask (Apologies!)

I want to write some vba code that excel can use to download the 'next race' page (every minute or so) from the racing posts web site.

Is this even possible? Once I can do this I have some ideas I'd like to try with analysing the data.

I hope someone can offer me some guidence or point me in the right direction.

Kind regards
Royville

Hi Ian,
You miss understand. I just want it to update with the next race details after last race has started.
If you look down the right side of the page you'll see a link which says 'next race' and if you click it, it brings up the next race card.
I want it to update every minute or so because when the page changes my analysis program should kick in, so the sooner it updates the more time there is to analyse before race start.
Hope this makes sense
Regards

Grr no edit

The date and race id will need to be determined by your code. Obviously the date is easy but the race id will be a little more tricky.

To be honest with I used to automatically download the complete days cards but have given up as the RP keeps changing its layout and this means you have to keep rewriting your code :?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
