Placing bets automatically

Postby malvasia » Thu Jun 24, 2010 6:07 pm

Guys,
I have just returned to Gruss after a break and I have two problems.

1: Tuesday I set up my excel spread sheet, after selecting the markets and adding to the quick pick list. Set to trigger bets at 1 minute before off time. Quick pick list updated the market at the correct time but no bets were submitted. Wednesday I was out all day and didnt use the programme.

2: I went through the same set up process today and when it came to loading the market for the first race I got this message:
MARKET LOADING ( req's pending )

Please help as I am going back to work next week and want the programme to place my bets for me.

Regards, Bill.

I'm afraid we have seen this issue before, but have not found a cause for it. Other users who experienced this problem cured it by re-installing Microsoft Office so we suggest you re-install Microsoft Office.

Would that be the answer to both problems ??

It's definitely the answer to the second problem and may be the answer to the first problem. I assume you are using the PlaceBets.xls example we provided. This spreadsheet definitely works, but only if you set it up correctly which is impossible for me to know without seeing a copy of it. If it appears to move through the markets and does not place any bets then you can send me a copy and I will try and see what's wrong.

I haven't received that file. Did you definitely use gruss@blueyonder.co.uk?
Please try sending it again and also send it to admin@gruss-software.co.uk in case it's being blocked from my personal address for some reason.

I still haven't received it. I think your email provider might be blocking it at your end which they sometimes do with Excel files. Can you try putting it in a zip file?

I have received the spreadsheet. I can see immediately why it didn't place any bets. It doesn't contain any formulas to place bets. You need to use the spreadsheet we provided here http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Excel/Place_Bets.xls

I still recommend that you re-install Microsoft Office though because you may get the pending requests problem again. As far as we can tell this problem is caused by Excel and not Betting Assistant.

Are you looking at the right spreadsheet? If you download the spreadsheet named "Place_Bets.xls" from the link below it does contain 2 tabs named market and selections just the same.

That spread sheet has NO tabs at the bottom. Just the MARKET

You cannot be opening the same spreadsheet or something is seriously wrong with your Excel installation. I don't know what else I can say. I know you need to get it working by the weekend, but I have done everything I can. Can somebody else reading this please confirm that they can see the selections tab in this spreadsheet?

I normally try to avoid this, but if you cannot open this spreadsheet then I think our software may not be the right choice for you. I will of course refund your subscription.

Gary,

I can see you are getting as frustrated as I am, I have used the software before with no problems.
Can you e-mail me a copy of the spreadsheet ??

I know this is time consuming for you but there dosent seem to be a simple answer. Maybe, as you asked someone else will open the spread sheet and tells us.
Regards,

Bill

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
