New version installation issue.

Postby Bookmatch » Mon Apr 12, 2010 11:21 am

I have uninstalled BA and then tried to download and install the latest version from Gruss Softaware but when it tries to install it says that "the installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it just doesn't download correctly. I've never found out why. It seems to be a general problem that affects .MSI files when downloaded. Try closing all internet browser windows, re-open and download it again.

Not worth starting a new topic for but I'm sure the last time I looked BA used about 17,000k of memory. Just looked again and it's at 73,500k.

Might be my memory that's wonky though.

Hi Gary,

Just out of interest, when you release a new beta version when does this start to auto update? Is it immediately after you compile the install package?

Cheers,

That's not related to installation issues so it should really be a new topic.

I'm not sure it's ever used only 17,000k. I will run it through a memory profiler again and see if there is anything obvious, but I don't think there is a memory issue. I tried Betfair Rapid which I think you will agree does not have anywhere near the same features and it uses 105,000k.

No, I have to upload the updated program and then update our database which the program checks for the latest version number when you first open it.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
