BA 'locking up'

Postby allgreen » Tue Apr 06, 2010 11:29 am

Gary, I am having problems with BA installed on one of my two computers.

When I open BA then click to make a bet the program immediately 'locks up' and doesn't respond to the mouse - I have to ctrl/alt/delete to close the program.

The program itself is still working as all the odds etc keep updating it's just that an invisible force field has been activated to defend BA from any attack by my poor little mouse.

About a week ago I installed and ran CCleaner for the first time so my first suspicion was that it has deleted a file/s pertinent to the operation of BA.

I have subsequently reinstalled BA with the same result so it would appear the problem is other than with the BA files.

My next (uneducated) guess would be something to do with Net Framework but I have subsequently tried restoring XP to a point before CCleaner was installed and had the same problems so am now unsure what to think.

Gary, any clues please?

Just for info purposes...

About a week ago I installed and ran CCleaner for the first time so my first suspicion was that it has deleted a file/s pertinent to the operation of BA.

I have this program on my home PC and have never found it to cause me the slightest
problem regarding any installation or running of my PC - has always run fine for ages.

Maybe this is of use - Michael :)

Thanks Michael. It was just a guess on my part as I have never had any problems previously and was all that I could think might be responsible.

Did you untick anything before using CCleaner (eg system files) or just run it as per the default when installed?

Hi allgreen :)

generally I simply run CCleaner with right click recycle bin ocassionally.
Also I sometimes open and run with default settings - works for me.
As said before I personally have never had a problem with this program.

Hope it helps - Michael

Is this with verify bets ticked? It could be that the popup to enter the bet is appearing off screen. It will prevent the rest of the program from accepting user input until it is closed. Try selecting "Reset place bet popup position" from the options menu before placing your first bet. Once restored it should remember the position you set next time you open the program.

You nailed it in one Gary! Thanks very much.

Quite a relief to get a nice simple answer to the problem after ones mind has been running off at all different tangents.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
