Tick Offset

Postby vilnius » Sun Apr 04, 2010 1:51 pm

I am currently seeing my tick offset bets going in as 1.01 for larger stakes rather then the tick offset % that I have set and for smaller stakes

Any ideas?

I am using 66j

Is the first bet a back bet?

What tick offset percent have you set?

what odds is the first bet getting matched at?

first bet is a back bet and the tick offset is set to 100%

The first bet (example) got matched at 3.6

100% will always fire the offset at 1.01. The calculation used is ((odds - 1) * (1 - (ticks / 100))) + 1

Are you expecting it to place it at half the odds? If so then you should use 50%.

Hi Gary

If I back it at say 4.0 for £10 I want it to put a lay bet in a t 2.0 for £20

I don't think it is possible then by using the % tick offset is it ?

Unfortunately not because the offset calculation does not work that way. It calculates a percentage of fractional odds not decimal odds. If you specify 50% with auto level ticked you will get 2.5 odds and £16 stake instead of 2.0 and £10.

Would this be possible for a future release? I suppose it goes back to previous discussion regarding hedging for a fixed profit.

Yes it will and I will probably implement the profit option at the same time.

I have just uploaded the latest Beta (ver 1.1.0.66k) and took the opportunity to include a quick addition you should find useful. I have added a new option to general preferences "Calculate tick % on decimal odds". Tick this option and in your example of backing £10 at 4.0 if you set the ticks as percent to 50 and tick "Auto level" then it should place £20 at 2.0 if matched at 4.0.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
