Sheet freezing !!!

Postby telglam » Mon Mar 01, 2010 3:18 pm

novice seeking help here !.
My macro fires a lay into the market when condition is met. Then when lay is matched fires a back into the market.
I have formatted the sheet for my viewing experience
The problem i have is when the lay is fired the spread sheet data freezes for a few seconds before continuing to display as normal.
I am only using pennies for stakes ......so , is this the reason for the long delay?.
All comments would be very much appreciated.
Cheers!

Is it on an in play market? Betting Assistant won't refresh the sheet again until the bet has been placing so on an in play horse racing market it will be 3 seconds before another bet can be triggered when placing a below minimum stake bet due to the delay imposed by Betfair. During this time the bet ref column will show "PENDING". It shouldn't actually cause Excel to freeze during this time though.

It is a second, but if it's below minimum stake the program has to "cheat" to get the bet on and this takes 3 transactions which each are subject to 1 second delay.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk_J8ry2iKw for an explanation of how below minimum bets are placed manually. This is how Betting Assistant does it in the background.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
