Saddlecloth order in excel

Postby vilnius » Thu Feb 25, 2010 1:37 pm

Hi

Is it possible to load the runners in saddleclth order to excel?

When I load a market into excel it always loads in the not sorted order no matter which order I have it in on BA

Thanks Gary

I have had a look at this and it does not help me, would it not be possible to have the choice as to how the list of runners was imported into excel? Saddlecloth number alphabetical order etc.

We have no plans to do this. Why do you need them in saddlecloth order? I am sure you can achieve what you need by using the rank function.

I want to compare a selections price on betfair at a given time against the live show price in percentage terms.

To do this I am importing the live show data in saddlecloth order as this remains constant.

You could use the vlookup function on the saddlecloth number to match the imported data to the BA data.

Maybe Gary but I just want to load the data, do a quick calculation and get out again, I don't have the time to start entering complex (for me) functions.

If the list of runners went into excel in saddlecloth order that would be fine.

It's not as easy for me to do that as you might think. It could cause all sorts of problems if not done properly and will require a lot of testing. To add a lookup function to your spreadsheet would take 5 minutes. I'll even help you do it if you send me a copy of the spreadsheet.

Hi Ian

I am taking the live show from billys, how the market is viewed can be customised by clicking the relevant column header.

I think Billy's is the best site for getting the live show - I do a vlookup on the horses name.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
