Newbie question

Postby wine » Fri Feb 05, 2010 5:47 am

Hi

I've used Gruss before, but i've never used excel with it.

I'd like to start with a simple trigger, but i'm not sure where to begin.

I'm looking at laying every horse for 50p at the start of the race at 1.9.

I'd then like to use a recovery, to win back any losses in the next race.

Thank you for any help, and apologies if i've posted this in the wrong place.

Best regards

The question you must ask yourself is why you want to use some sort of 'recovery'. If your system has a negative expectation, which in this pretty indescriminate laying you would likely have, your 'recovery' won't turn it into a positive one.

There seems to be a myth amongst quite a lot of amateur gamblers that a staking system will magically turn a longterm negative expectation into a positive one. And that's simply not true.

Your best bet is to try to find a system that has a positive expectation with level stakes and then start playing around with staking by using an app like 'The Staking Machine'.

Hi Doris

Thanks for the reply.

I realise that this is not a long term winning strategy. I was more interested in how one would program excel to do a simple bet repetitively. I've never used excel with Gruss, so i'd just like to see how it could be programmed..

Best regards

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
