newbie question - not triggering?

Postby jonn » Sat Aug 29, 2009 9:28 pm

hi, i am trialling Bet Assistant and running the place_bets excel spreadsheet.

Everything is going fine the racess are loading from the quck pick list and i have set up the selections making sure to match the horse name exactly and even leaving min odds at 2 and max 20 just to get matched.

The problem is it loads as it should 2 mins before the off and Trigger bet? turns from N to Y as it should 60 seconds to place the bet but it doesn't place?

I'm sure its simple but i cannot figure it?

Jonn - I have had this issue a few times when I have placed bets under the BetUnfair minimum, close to the off. Maybe .....

Have you made sure trigger betting is enabled ? It's off by default so just needs to be ticked

Hi Norwegian,

Do you mean under the minimum stake or odds?

I have it set at 2 for £2 stake and odds of 2

@Jonn - Minimum Stake - looks like you are OK there.

I'll keep me nose outta this as there are probably lotsa possibilities....

BACK or LAY in uppercase ? stakes and odds columns filled in ? Is anything being displayed in the bet ref column ? PENDING anything like that ?

Have you tried tried firing a bet from just a simple sheet i.e. just stick £2 in the stake column and odds 1.01 use LAY just to make sure it's actually linking and firing bets

It goes through all the motions in the Excel sheet but no bef reference comes up. Triggers 60 seconds before as it should do but no bets placed.

Have been using the sample sheet too. All columns filled in as they should be too?

Haven't tried it on UK markets yet only U.S and RSA but i am adding these to the quick pick list

John

Are you selecting any cells on the worksheet, as if to edit a value or formula, BA cannot update the worksheet if excel is busy waiting for input from the user.

Also silly question I know but is there enough money in your Betfair account to place the bets. IE if laying there must be enough money available to pay out the bet if you lose.

Hi Duncan,

Did you mean as if the the data was in the cell but still selected?

Yes if data is selected within an excel cell then excel cannot be written to by external applications as it reports itself as busy.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
