Tick table

Postby mikey » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:10 am

Hi All,

Does anyone know any easy way to bring back the betfair price for say 5 ticks higher than the back price? I can only think of a lookup table, any ideas?

I created an Excel macro a while back. It might help.

BACK-SP-TL5-IP ??

Postby mikey » Tue Aug 25, 2009 2:44 pm

As i'm very new to triggered betting can anyone tell me if this would work BACK-SP-TL5-IP?

i'm thinking this would place a back bet at my odds or if not taken before the off place a back bet at the SP and when in play lay it back at 5 ticks below with a level profit?

have i got this right??

Sorry, it's not right. You can't have SP and IP in the same trigger as they both apply to the back bet and the offset lay bet.

SP means either the back or offset lay bet will be converted to SP if not matched before the off
IP means either the back or offset lay bet will not be cancelled if not matched before the off (ie. kept in play). IP does not mean only place the offset bet in play, it can also be placed before in play.

You could use either BACK-TL5-IP or BACK-TL5-SP which both place a lay bet 5 ticks lower as soon as the back bet is matched. The only difference is what happens to the bets if they are not matched before the off. If you don't want the original back bet to be carried in play if not matched then you should use BACK-TL5-IPC or BACK-TL5-SPC

Thanks Gary,

It was a best guess, I wanted to get a price matched a little above the expected SP before the off or take the sp at the off and then lay 5 ticks lower but carry in play.
I'll try BACK-TL5-SP that looks like the one.

thnaks for the pointers.

I think I've mentioned it before but it became buried in another thread.

I'd suggest you add a plus/minus ticks function in the 'Custom Column' routines. I often know I want to back/lay inside the spread but dont know the actual price which you have to quote in the Custom Columns at the moment....

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
