Bets posted every time I view market

Postby gizzard » Thu Jun 18, 2009 12:37 pm

I'm sure there's an easy answer to this but I just can't see it.

I have a trigger set that should check conditions and then post a bet when a market is first loaded. This works fine.

If I then, manually, go and look at another market and then return to the first market all the bets are re-triggered.

I am checking to see if the bet reference field is empty or not and only triggering if it is not.
I also tried using LAYR (the original bet was a lay) in the hope that the existing bet would just be replaced.

The way I expected it to work was:
Brand new market - create bets if conditions met
Re-open same market, original bet references picked up
Check if there is a bet reference and, if so, do nothing

Can you explain to me how this works?
Thanks

That's not quite how it works.

There are two options to dictate what happens when the market is changed. These options are available when you select "Log current prices".

1) "Clear bet refs on auto select market". The bet references are cleared automatically when a market is auto selected by the "Auto select markets options" on the market menu.

2) "Clear bet refs on manual select market". The same as above, but it will clear the bet references when market is manually selected.

I think you must have option 2 ticked which means the bet refs are cleared when you are manually changing markets and therefore allowing new bets to be triggered. You need to untick it.

You see, I told you it was easy! That removes a lot of frustration. It also explains what those flags are for, I couldn't find anything on them in the Help.

Thanks for such a prompt reply.

Sorry but this still doesn't quite do what I expect.

I have unflagged the box so that the bet references are now not cleared when I manually select.

When I go to a new market the references from the LAST market I viewed are now shown plus any new ones that were triggered when I select the market.
So, I now have some new references and some old ones from an entirely different market.

I was expecting BA to simply show the references from THIS market as it was when I left it last time.
I'm not sure how to get that position.

I want to change existing bets using LAYR but if I clear the references how can I change them?

It wasn't really designed to allow you to switch backwards and forwards between markets and remember your bets. It was designed so that you would stay linked to the same market until you had finished betting on it. Maybe you should consider having each market in a separate tab page in Betting Assistant and linking each tab page to a separate worksheet.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
