Display Fractional Odds in Excel

Postby yursaduian » Tue Mar 17, 2009 12:31 am

Gary

I use your code to collect the liveshows from Sporting life on each horse race.

Is there anyway I can display the odds as fractional (7/4, 15/8 etc) in excel?

Thanks
Ian

Unfortunately I don't know. It's not something I would want to do personally. There are decimal equivalents for every fraction, but not the other way round so even if you use a look up table there will be some missing. Has anyone else got any ideas?

I've just reviewed my code. The odds are converted from fractional to decimal by my code so it's just a case of providing a function to return the fractional odds instead of decimal. I will add a function named getLiveShowFractional(). I'll let you know when it's ready.

I've updated the example spreadsheet.

Download it from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Excel/S ... _Shows.xls

You can use the function getLiveShowFractional() instead of getLiveShow()

I haven't tested it yet because obviously it's too early for live shows. I'll test it later and let you know if I have to amend it.

Display Fractional Odds in Excel

Bloody hell - quick work Gary!

Obviously I still need the decimal figures for my excel calculations but it would help me read whats going on in the betting market if I could see the fractional odds on my worksheet as well

Without being a pain, is there any way we could have both?

Thanks again

You've still got the getLiveShow() function so you can use that in addition to the getLiveShowFractional() function.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
