Different odds listed in BA Log c.f. Betfair P&L

Postby Joe68 » Tue May 17, 2016 12:20 pm

I had a bet today, listed in the Log brought up by the command "View Transaction Log" with the following details;
17/05/2016 15:42 6742794422 Backed 3. Diamond Baroness @ odds:2.26, stake:5 (SP bet) OK 161

However, the details listed on Betfair P&L state;

Selection Odds Stake($) Bid type Placed Profit/loss($)
3. Diamond Baroness 1.88 5.00 Back 17-May-16 15:42 4.40

Note that each is for different odds; 2.26 and 1.88.

There are no other backing bets on this horse - the 2 listings def. refer to the same bet.

Why do the 2 listings show different odds? Is it that the SP bet was placed when estimated SP was 2.26 which shortened to 1.88 at jump?

probably due to a late non runner being removed from the market after you placed the bet. If you look on your account statement on the Betfair website it'll show any reduction factor against the bet

Hey thanks. Good thought, but doesn't seem correct in this case.

Account summary entry;
2016-05-17 16:31 6742794422 2016-05-17 15:42 AUS Geel (AUS) 17th May / 16:30 R8 1200m Hcap / 3. Diamond Baroness
Back SP 1.88 5.00 Won 4.40

I can't see any reference to a reduction factor.

I wonder which price my tick offset was calculated against.

We're you betting manually or via excel? Dunno what trigger you used if excel but the BSP can vary quite a lot from the projected figure and prices do move alot close to the off especially on low liquidity markets.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
