Freezing if left on for a long time

Postby bozzie555 » Wed Apr 22, 2015 7:07 pm

I was wondering if anyone else is encountering the same problem with the latest version of Gruss. If I leave it left on for a long period of time (for example overnight), when I return to my PC or laptop, I find that Gruss is frozen and I have to close it down and reload it. I never had this issue preiously and it's quite annoying as I often leave positions open overnight.

Yes, it has been happening to me for some time and has got worse since the DDOS attack on Betfair :!: I have checked and treble checked everything in case it was anything at my end. I even had got my internet provider to check my connection in case I was getting an intermittent loss of connection but they found nothing at all :!: All I can think it could be is a problem left over from the Betfair DDOS attack :?:

I discovered something yesterday when trying to diagnose a freezing problem for another customer. It's possible for requests to get stuck and never timeout even though a timeout is specified. There is code to abort the request if it goes beyond the timeout period, but this got bypassed when I converted to API-NG. I have now included this code. Please install version 1.3.0.18b from the link below and let me know if it fixes the problem.

Is there any additional code to deal with the AUS server issues, like setting the amount of attempts it takes or having it reschudule attempts. The AUS server has always been a pain for anyone on auto pilot :( It'd be good if there were a few more options to attempt to lessen any effects of it going down which it seems to on a regular basis at the moment.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
