Questions about new version of BA

Postby luca » Tue Nov 11, 2014 5:33 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been using an old version of Betting Assistant for years and yesterday I had to install the new one (ver.1.3.0.7) due to the change of API. And I have few questions about it.

Q1: How do I get rid of those white highlights on the ladder (the ones appearing on stakes column at 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and so on)? It may seem like a small issue but it really does get on my nerves. Ive got so used to the whole stakes column being blue and I would love to change it back. Besides I dont see any point of having some stakes highlited white, it just makes the interface messy so why did that change at all? If anyone knows how to do it or wether it's possible to do it please let me know.

Q2: On my screen I can fit 3 and a half ladders. On the old version when I was putting my mouse over that half of the ladder it was moving the screen to show me the whole ladder. Unfortunetely on the new version it doesnt move and I have to use the bar at the bottom to move it. Yet again another change that doesnt help at all but complicates work. Is it possible to change it somewhere in preferences?

Q3: Since I installed the new version standard Betfair commission rised up. It used to be 4.9% and now it's 6.37%. Was there a commission change on Betfair that I'm not aware of?

I will be very greatfull if you could answer my questions.

All the best,
Luca

Eh... For about 6-7 years that I've been using Betting Assistant I always saw the startup page saying that there is a forum I can use if I had any problems with the software...
Well now I have few simple questions and noone willing to help.
Nice one...

q3: Yes, there was a commission raise in most non UK countries the last few months.
For the rest just be patient because there several problems Gary and Mark have to deal in the moment with the new api NG...

Soon someone will help for sure

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying, it's been a bit manic since Betfair switched off the old API.

In answer to your questions:-

Q1. You can't currently get rid of the white highlights in the Ladder which are there to highlight the crossover points, i.e. where the price increments change but I will see if we can make it an optional preference.

Q2. We will see if we can make it work in the same way as it was before.

Q3. The commission figure is coming from the API, if it is incorrect then we need to ask Betfair about it. Can you confirm that it is showing the wrong figure?

Regards,
Mark

Houston we have a problem!

I am betting via excel. Betting assistant takes all commands and calculation, however when it comes to the stake, it always takes 2 euro, despite my different commands.

I am using dutch betting formulas and I make 2 or more bets at the same time. Is it because the 2 euro is smallest ammount I can bet in new version? I am almost sure I would be able to test my sheets with smaller stakes in old version, so I guess it must be a bug or something?

In Transaction log I would then find this...

Below minimum stake, back 2 @ odds 1000 (Excel trigger:BACK, Odds:9.2 Stake:0,5 Tick offset:0 Fill or kill:-1) OK
Below minimum stake, cancel bet OK

Hi Mark,

Yeah no worries about the late reply. I understand you have a lot to do these days.

I will be forever greatful if you could make the white highlights as an optional preference.

And if you could solve the "mouse over" thing it would really make my work much easier. It helps a lot because very often I choose 4 horses that I'm gonna be trading on and when stakes start to move very quickly (specially >5mins before the start) I can quickly jump between the first and the last ladder.

About the standard Betfair comission - thanks @mak, yeah they rised it up for some of the non-UK countries and I'm based in Poland so that would explain it. Greedy bastards :D I pay premium charge every week (20%) and now they rise up the standard commission.

Now when I'm talking to mastermind of this software I can express my gratitude about it. So thank you !!! Great work man :)

If you make those changes can you please post a reply here or pm me, so I can download and install the updated version.

Many thanks,
Luca

I had that problem too. Gary solved it for me successfully. You only have to download a new version. The download link is found at the end of page 12 of the thread "Betting Assistant New Version" in the subforum Announcements.

Then you will not be affected by this increase since the commission you pay is already calculated inside pc (aprox) , it will decrease your pc

Nope. They deduct standard commission (6,37%) straight away from every market I make profit on plus every week on Wednesday they take 20% from all my winnings (premium charge) calculated from Monday to Sunday of the previous week.

I have just released version 1.3.0.13. There is a new option in ladder preferences "Highlight cross over odds". Untick this option.

Please install from https://www.gruss1-software.co.uk/Betti ... istant.msi

I still need to look at the mouse over issue. We are still dealing with many issues. I will have a look as soon as I can.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
