Bet not correct

Postby Mattmid » Wed Jan 22, 2014 12:15 am

Is there anyway to check a bet that appears to have either got mixed up or some other error has occured.

This morning I bet on Solihull v Guiseley on Over 2.5 goals on betting Assistant and got matched at 1.80 for £5. It was correct as I record my bets on a spreadsheet and recorded it when I saw it in my matched bets list from the main Betfair site.

Tonight though I checked my profit loss and there is a losing bet in there for Solihull to be winning at half time, matched at 10:34am (approximately the right time) Matched at odds of 2.65 for £5 stake. And no sign of the over 2.5 bet.

I certainly did not bet this and did not make a mistake as for one I would never have bet odds of 2.65 for over 2.5 for this game without realising I was on the wrong market and as I say I saw it and confirmed it in my matched bets on the betfair site.

I have emailed betfair of course but wondered if there is any log file or other way of checking it from Betting Assistant

If you haven't closed and re-opened Betting Assistant since then you can check the transaction log under the account menu.

Thanks Gary. No unfortunately I had already close BA before then.

They have emailed back and said they only have record of the bet being on the half time market and it was matched at "best execution"

I am adamant I did not bet on that market and that I physically saw my 1.80 matched bet in my matched bets list on the actual betfair website. Yes of course we all make mistakes and the stake was the same and the time of the bet was around the right time but I honestly think I'd notice that there were three options to bet on when I was trying to bet on Under/Over 2.5 goals! Not to mention none of them say "Over 2.5 goals"!

I'm not blaming you or BA in anyway Gary but is there any way that some kind of mix up can happen at Betfair's end of the API or anywhere?

Fortunately it was just a £5 bet but of course I didn't get lucky and win the erroneous bet however the one I placed did win. Just wish I had some proof of it.

@Mattmidd - You have my understanding for what it's worth...

I certainly did not bet this and did not make a mistake as for one I would never have bet odds of 2.65 for over 2.5 for this game without realising I was on the wrong market and as I say I saw it and confirmed it in my matched bets on the betfair site.

Similar thing happened to me ages ago and I never did get a solution...

P.S. Second to last post in above link is most relevant I think?

I'm afraid it's impossible for us to say whether Betfair made a mistake, but if you saw the bet on their website then we can only say that Betting Assistant did its job and it's definitely not possible for it to influence the bet after it has been accepted and matched by Betfair.

Maybe I'll try not to close betting assistant as much as possible to prevent this from happening again.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
