Excel bet placement error.

Postby keesbart » Sat Jun 23, 2012 6:18 pm

Hi Gary,

The complete message is:
"Excel bet placement error. Attempted to log bets from latest list".
The bet is placed, but stays Pending in the Excel screen, the refresh stops and the Excel screens freezes.
This happened 3 times in a row. Every time I closed both BA and the spreadsheet to start again. I made screenshots.
Can you tell me why this happens and how I can correct this?

Regards,
keesbart

I'll need to replicate this to find out. What version are you using?

Gary,

I am using 1.1.0.66x84. My computer runs Windows7.

Before I start running BA I always make a copy my the spreadsheet.
For the last 3 horse races yesterday I used this copy of the spreadsheet and this is working ok. No problems anymore.
Could it be that the spreadsheet got corrupted?
I can send you the screenshots if you think that this will help.

It could have been a temporary API issue. If it did not get a result from the API after placing the bet and then could not refresh the bets list to get the result it will not update Excel until it has completed this. I will add some more logging code to capture this next time.

Gary,
Fine with me. It looks like everything is back to normal again.
Thanks for your investigation.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
