Selection IDs

Postby jrarmstrong » Thu Feb 02, 2012 9:17 am

Hi,

Is there a way of getting the Betfair ID numbers into Excel using Betting Assistant? Or, if not, another way of getting hold of them without obtaining them from the website manually?

Thanks,

James

Actually, scratch that. I have found out how to get them from an alternative source.

Hi,

Just to let you know, if you use the Beta version then "Betfair Selection ID" is an option from the Additional Columns list when logging to Excel

Mark,

Thanks for this. I have been experimenting with your suggestion this morning.

The Selction IDs on the BF site seem to differ from those provided by BA. For example, Durberville in the 3.30 at Sandown is 03910847 according to BA but 00277760 according to the website.

It could be the case that the website uses different IDs in it URLs though.

Is that the likely explanation?

Thanks,

James

Sorry just missed that race so cannot check, but looking at the 15:50 Wolverhampton I can see the selection ids are the same and I am certain that the selection ids for the website have always been the same as the API. Where are you looking to see this different id?

Hi Gary,

I have been taking them from the BF/Timeform URL. For example, http://form.horseracing.betfair.com/for ... 1/XXXXXXXX.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
