Hope I am posting this in the correct section.
I have a very small test account ,but recently when I try to place a BACK bet as small as 10p I get the message Last action:error placing bet
,exposure or available balance exceeded, although I can place a 10p LAY bet without any problem.
I know I only have £ 1.60 in the account ,but I cannot understand why the BACK bet is not being placed.
Would be very grateful for any help.

You need at least £2.10 in your account due to the way it has to "cheat" to get the bet on. Betfair do not officially allow below £2 bets. First it places a back bet for £2 at 1000 so that it won't get matched. It then adjusts the stake to £2.10. This creates an additional bet for £0.10. It then cancels the £2 bet and changes the odds of the £0.10 bet to your requested odds. As you can see it will fail with exposure exceeded when it tries to place the first £2 bet.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
