ver 1.1.0.66w

I can't call this a bug ... because i dont know what i am doing !

Being a happy and contented soul - i had no need of userforms - i dont mind if all the controls are on a workbook sheet.

However - for a lark - i decided to venture into userforms - first time in about 9 years !

Got it all working a treat - eventually ! So i could doubleclick on the workbook on the desktop, the Excel workbook is briefly visible, then only the userform can be seen - great - got it - job done !

Ha !

Just opened the same workbook from with Gruss BA v - O pandemonia ensures ! ( no - thats not a panda with pneumonia - but it might be ! )...

From Tab 'Excel' , 'Log current prices' - to 'browse' - select file - file name & Worksheet appear in the textboxes.... then - currrr wallop ! my excel file opened - the workbook flashed visible, the userform appeared - the workbook property changed to visible.false - as it is supposed to - but in " Excel - log current prices" - the textboxes for "Workbook name" & "Worksheet name" - were blank !

stupid , stupid me ! I have made the workbooks invisible

but GRuss BA has locked

Seems there is a conflict of interests - I dont want to see the workbooks at all ( not ever - just the userform ) - but it seems GrussBA must be able to see the workbooks.

So question - if i compromise - and leave the workbooks open whilst i continue filling in the details on the "Excel - log current prices" window - and click "OK" - can i make my workbook invisible then - and will GrussBA be able to 'see' the workbook to send data to / recieve betting instruction therefrom ?

or, have I been such a clever dick - i have just nuked myself ?

It seems to work ok here with hidden worksheets, they are still picked up by Betting Assistant. Any chance I could have a copy of the spreadsheet so I can see what happens in BA when tries to access the worksheets?

Hi Gary - the 'lock up' stopped after a reboot - however I am unable to complete the " Excel - log current prices" form.

I have replied to your email with the solution. Basically the user form was modal which blocks VBA execution until the form is closed. BA cannot communicate while VBA execution is blocked.

Thanks Gary

- that has fixed it - although mysteriously I had to moved MS shell Control away from the form and into Workbook_open event ( which is probably where it should have been anyway).

I readierly admit to struggling with the finer nuances of 'modal' - too new fangled for this 'oldie' he he !

job done

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
