Trigger modifiers

Postby johnnic » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:34 pm

Would someone be so kind as to check the following Excel code to ensure it does what I want it to do?

BACK-IP-PL10-SL7P-L

(1) I want the bet to remain in place when the market goes in play.
(2) If the back bet is achieved at the odds I have set, I want an offsetting lay bet to be placed at 10% higher than the original bet and the bets to be 'greened up'.
(3) If the bet goes against me, I want to be stopped out at 7% above the original bet price and the bets to be evenly red.

As an example, if I make a back bet at $1.45, I want an offsetting lay bet to be made if the market hits $1.32 and to be stopped out if the price hits $1.55. To further the example, if my inital bet was $100, the offsetting lay bet would be $88.34 at $1.32 (with a green book of $11.66) and my stop loss would be $111.31 at $1.55 (with a red book of -$11.31)

Does this seem right?

Having studied the manual more closely, I realise that the order of the modifiers in my previous example are not correct. How about:

BACK-PL10-SL7P-L-IP

Thanks

The trigger should be BACK-PL10-SL7P-L-IP

I can see that you expect the percentage to be calculated in a certain way. You need to tick "Calculate tick % on decimal odds" in general preferences.

The lay bet will actually be placed at 1.30. 1.45 minus 10% is 1.305 and it is rounded down to 1.30.

If the back bet is achieved at the odds I have set, I want an offsetting lay bet to be placed at 10% higher than the original bet and the bets to be 'greened up'.

Don't you mean 10% lower? You can't green up laying at higher odds. The stake would be £111.54 if placed at 1.30 with a green book of £11.54

The stop loss stake would be £93.54 with a red book of -£6.46

One further question, if I may?

Is it possible to have the n (number of ticks) variable determined by another cell? Something like BACK-PL[cell reference].

Thanks, when combined with CONCATENATE to include other modifiers, it works a treat.

To my absolute frustration, I have just realised that adopting any betting strategy that involves offsetting or applying a stop loss to an event once it is in play will not work in Australia! Online, in play betting is not allowed in Oz.

Very, very annoying.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
