Automated placing of list of horses

Postby psilocybin » Sun Jun 20, 2010 6:34 pm

Hi! My first post. I have a list of horses that I'd like to bet on thoughout the day. I have Betting Assistant downloaded and have Excel open. How do I list the horses in Excel to execute a bet on them. Do I need to name the worksheet or certain cells? I know how to place a bet manually using the Trigger cell and specifying stake and odds, but how do I get horses selected from a list automatically? And how do I specify the odds for those horses - I'm happy to take the back odds 1 min pre-off.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

That seems good. Any ideas how I would specify my stake if I wanted my stake relative to the horse's odds in question? For example, I want my liability to be €100. I know that if I divide 100 by the odds I get my stake, but how do I specify a particular horse's odds in the selections worksheet so I can do the calculation? So I want to look up the horse's odds, then go back to the Selections worksheet and use that number to calculate the stake for that bet.

If you write the following in cell R5

=IF(F5>0,F5,"") it will take the data from F5 (latest Back odds) and inserts them into cell R5

Then if you have cell S5 as

=SUM(100/R5) you will have you stake assuming 100 is your payout figure

Is that what you mean ??

Yes, that's pretty much it thanks!

Also, I have bets for win market and place market. I notice that if I load all the markets it goes through either the win market or the place market, but not both.

Would I need 2 instances of Betting Assistant opened if I wanted to bet on both the win and place markets. And then load 2 different excel sheets, one with horses I want to bet on in the win market and one for the place market?

Anyone know how I would do this?

You actually need to tabs of BA to link them separately in different sheets

So I need 2 instances of BA running, one for the win markets and one for the place markets, both linked to their own copy of place_bets.xls - one for placing bets on the place market and one for placing bets on the win market. Is that correct or is there and easier way?

You can open many tabs (pages) in BA through "New Page" in the menu.So it will be more efficient if you use them i think.

tab1 (or page1) for the win markets linked to place bets1
tab2 (or page2) for the place markets linked to place bets2

Thanks mak! I got it now, that's perfect! Can't wait to get my bets automated. I'm sick looking at Betfair.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
