Please help Excel newbie

Postby 2020vision » Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:42 am

Hi All :)

I am trying to get my head around a few Excel triggers and wonder if anyone
would donate me a formula to satisfy the following condition please?

I want a trigger - If(H1>4 but <7 then "Lay", ""). I would put the amount in
stake column(S) and the formula in the trigger(Q) column.
Can sort out what goes in the odds column(R) myself.

Does this make sense? Hope you get my meaning?

Much appreciated, thanks, Michael :)

You might like to add more criteria to this trigger such as only allowing it to fire within a particular time window or when there is x amount of money in the market, or when the market is (or is not) In Play. As it stands, it will place a Lay bet the first time it notes that the odds are in the specified range (provided there is valid data in the stake and odds columns) and that might not be when you want!

Thank you very much Yorkie - will give it a go.

Also thanks for your input silver.

Am just trying and learning at the moment. Maybe try more complex stuff later?

Ttfn - Michael :)

Following on from this I have tried searching the forum for other triggers
and formulas in order to try and pick apart and understand how they work. :?:

But the search facility will not pick up for example =IF(

I guess a lot of triggers would start with this but it would take too long to
trawl through all posts - what am I doing wrong with the search?
Do I need more characters - I guessed 4 would be enough?

Thanks if anyone can shed light on this? Michael :)

I'm afraid the forum software only indexes words containing letters. We didn't create the software, it's a free "off the shelf" solution so it's not practical to change it to support this. You can search for "formula" which will bring back quite a few results.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
