Stop Loss triggered early

Postby SilkBC » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:58 am

Hello.

I made a LAY bet and enabled the Stop Loss. I set the tick offset to 5 and ticked the "Sliding" box.

My LAY was made at 1.08, so I was thinking that I wouldn't get out until the price hit 1.03, but Gruss got me out at 1.05.

I didn't have any other tick offsets set in any of the other tabs, so not sure why it would have got me out early (this wasn't a *bad* thing in this case, but could become annoying if it keeps getting me out earlier than I am wanting)

One other question: am I correct in my understanding that I can have several pages open, each with one active market and each with a stop loss and the stop loss will be triggered whether I am on that page or not?

Thanks! :-)

Hi,

When using the sliding option the Stop Loss will move when the price goes in the right direction and then if the prices moves back in the wrong direction it will fire at the new price that it reached, so can be very useful to lock in some profit.

If you don't want the Stop Loss price to move then don't use the Sliding option.

With regards to your other question, you are correct, you must keep the market open but not necessarily the active page.

Regards,
Mark

I just looked over the player's price history and saw that his price did go as high as 1.11 a couple of times, so yes, that would explain it. I wasn't actually glued tot he prices myself, and only saw his price stay around the 1.07-1.08 mark for the most part.

OK, mystery solved; I probably should have checked the price movement before I posted; that is exactly what I want to happen, so no issues here :-)

OK, I thought so. I normally add a bunch of matches to the "Quick Pick" list on the same page and move between them (without using any of the tools on them), so if I just have one active market per page, then I know I can still be on several active markets and have the tools running.

Thanks! :-)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
