Green up tool help required

Postby ronbets » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:16 pm

Hello… I am looking for software that will automatically recognise when one of my Lays has been taken on the Horse Racing markets and will either automatically Green Up at the advertised off time if the current price is above my Lay price or leave if not possible to Green up before the ‘off’
It would have to multiply the Lay odds (including base point) by stake matched and then divide this figure by Green up Price (including base point) to give stake amount so as to show a profit win or lose.

Sorry, it does not currently have an auto green up facility.

Talking about auto green up does anyone know...

Is there a trigger in Excel which will do the equivalent of activating
the "close all positions" button a set time before the off?

Thanks - Michael :)

How is the "close all positions" calculating the bets? Plenty of times it's giving a worse result than is available and doing more bets than is neccessary to green out. Is it set to back or lay to close out ?

It's a very simple calculation. It looks at the position of each selection one by one and calculates the appropriate stake to green up ignoring all other bets on the market. It does not attempt to calculate the best possible way of greening up.

If you have bets on two selections it will place two bets, one on each. If you have bets on three selections it will place three bets and so on. It does not decide that it can produce a better position by only placing bets on one or two of them.

Here is a very simple example.

Back horse 1: £5 @ 5
Lay horse 2: £5 @ 10

Horse 1 now trading @ 2: (5/2) X £5 = Lay £12.50 @ 2
Horse 2 now trading @ 9: (10/9) X £5 = Back £5.56 @ 9

Horse 1: Profit = £20 - £12.50 = £7.50
Horse 2: Profit = £5-£5.56 = -£0.56

Total profit: £6.94

Can't you do this through the Excel Triggered Betting?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
