XP problem?

Postby mak » Mon Jan 25, 2010 7:08 am

In my second laptop (which I mainly would like to use only for BA) with windows XP I experience I strange problem

I have a xl sheet that populate at q2 the -1 value (Select the next market in the Quick Pick List) every 2 minute for example

BA works ok with that, but if I open firefox for example BA just stops until I minimize firefox (then BA again working fine)

In my other laptop with windows 7 I notice that BA still working when I am at firefox

Is it something that normal or do I need to adjust something at XP?

I have another similar problem when I want to autoreload the QuickPick List (Gary's example sheet)

I have 3 tabs of BA (even with the same Market open) connected at 1 workbook with 3 sheets accordingly but at the next day only the first & "active" sheet will refresh.

Any ideas / help about it ?

It doesn't make any sense at all. I cannot imagine how Firefox can possibly interfere with BA. Any chance you can I see for myself using remote assistance?

What exact trigger are you using to refresh the quick pick list?

Gary hi,
I don't have problem to see by yourself but I will be available at afternoon I am at office right now

The trigger to refresh the quick pick list is mainly -3.12 but I have tried without sucess at all -3.16 & -3.6 & -3.5 that's why in another thread I am asking if this kind of rutines could be in the standard BA interface

* Bear in mind that at 64.q version the Help menu doesn't show some already available triggers as -3.16

Thanks
mak

Sorry for the late response. Are you using the trigger on each worksheet or just one of them? You need to use the trigger on each worksheet.

Just answered in another thread the following

Gary
yesterday after a format of my laptop I installed only BA & the aplications it needs.I also made one workbook for every market I use (previous they were all in the same workbook)

So today mornig your code worked fine & all my sheets were updated

My problem is with horse markets that they updated during the same day
so now I need a sample that will check if the paricular market is updated

see here http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... php?t=4434

* Also woking fine with firefox...

Gary hi
today (second day that left BA to run automated) my workbooks haven't updated but yesterday with the same code they did.
Do you have any idea what I am missing?

Can you send me a copy of the spreadsheet so I can check if it's anything obvious?

Your spreadsheet seems ok to me. Have I got the full picture? I ask because you said previously
I have 3 tabs of BA (even with the same Market open) connected at 1 workbook with 3 sheets accordingly but at the next day only the first & "active" sheet will refresh.

The example you sent only has one market. Is this the one that failed this morning or was it multiple tab pages linked to multiple worksheets? Did the first one update and not the rest?

It's important that I know this because my example was not designed to work with multiple sheets in the same workbook, but can be modified to do so.

There is another possibility. Was Betting Assistant left running from the previous day and therefore it was linked to the last closed market from the previous day or had you restarted Betting Assistant and set up the link to Excel without selecting a market? If it wasn't initally linked to a market then my example will not work and will need modifying.

Gary 5 posts earlier I have the following

"yesterday after a format of my laptop I installed only BA & the aplications it needs.I also made one workbook for every market I use (previous they were all in the same workbook)"

Also I confirm Betting Assistant was left running from the previous day and therefore it was linked to the last closed market from the previous day & it stayed there...

Sorry, I somehow missed that even though I read it

Can you upgrade to version 1.1.0.64s and let me know if the problem still occurs. I made a change that should ensure it works even if an API error is encountered which may have happened although not very probable. If you are available for a remote support session please email me immediately and if I am around I will do remote support.

Also if you email for remote support can you leave BA and Excel open so that I can examine the state of BA and the spreadsheet.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
