4. Switching to lay field and use it (when I open the program the box 'Enable tick offset' is always checked. why? and even if I uncheck it it still shows tick offset highlighted at the top line - not red cross, only green V).

You misunderstand the purpose of "Enable tick offset". It only applies to the lay field and back field bets. It means that if you have set tick offset then it will apply to these bets. If you always want it to work with tick offset then you should leave this ticked and never change it.

Also looked in to log and see than one of the back bet took ages to place. I understand that this is below minimum stake so the action required double time, which should be at least 5-6 sec. but here it took 14 sec.!!!! Why??

It didn't take 14 seconds. You haven't read the log properly. The first item you listed does not actually relate to the following transactions, it is from a previous transaction that was 13 seconds before. Here is an example. See that the final part of the transaction reads "Backed Stags Leap" (not the first part)
1 07/06/2010 18:47:46 11168158766 Below minimum stake, back 2 @ odds 1000 (My bets) OK 155
2 07/06/2010 18:47:46 11168158811 Below minimum stake, update stake from 2 to 2.1 (My bets) NEW_BET_SUBMITTED_SUCCESSFULLY 210
3 07/06/2010 18:47:46 11168158766 Below minimum stake, cancel bet REMAINING_CANCELLED 163
4 07/06/2010 18:47:46 11168158963 Backed Stags Leap @ odds:2.00, stake:0.1 (My bets) OK_REMAINING_CANCELLED 83

one more thing. is it possible to check the log data if a race is no longer exist in market tab? can I check the data from yesterday or 2 hours ago?

Yes, but only while the program is open. When you close the program it does not save this information so you cannot view it from yesterday.

I have released version 1.1.0.65n. It now logs in the transaction log if tick offset was set at the time the lay field bets were placed. If it shows that it was set in the log but the offset bet was not placed then I will investigate.

thanks Gary for a quick solution.
are you able to include in new version 'bet matched time'?
or is this not so easy to do?

It's not so quick to implement, but will be at some point, maybe in the next month.

Here's some important information I think you may not be aware of. I think you are under the impression that in play bets on horse races always take 3 seconds using Betting Assistant. This is not the case. It only takes 3 seconds when the stake is below the minimum allowed by Betfair. In this case it uses a well known trick to place the bet. This process requires 3 transactions which each incur the 1 second delay which is a total of 3 seconds.

Bets of £2 or more (or whatever the minimum stake is in your currency) only incur a 1 second delay.

are you sure? that is great news then :)

I know placing bets below Ł2 takes longer because of the trick, but also I have noticed using another application, when placing bets in play (I talk about horse racing) it counted on the ladder from 3: 3,2,1 and only after that 3sec. bet was placed.
so I thought that maybe betfair increased the time delay.

if you are sure that it is still 1sec. for bets over 2 that's great then.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
